Care
CARE OF YOUR BEADED JEWELRY
Though it may look delicate, handwoven jewelry is actually very strong and durable. I use beading thread with a tensile strength of 6 - 10 lbs. and even the tiniest beads are passed through multiple times during the making of a piece. Pulling it apart is nearly, if not completely, impossible.
That being said, the same is not true of chains, jump rings, clasps, etc., so care still needs to be taken not to pull or catch your jewelry on anything, just as you would for any other piece of fine jewelry.
With regard to the beads and crystals, some special finishes can fade if continually subjected to soaps or other cleaning agents. The same is true for gold and silver plating, which I often use for ear wires, chains and clasps.
BUT . . . do not worry if you find yourself doing dishes with your beaded rings on . . . or taking a shower with your necklace still hanging around your neck. Your jewelry will be fine with some added sparkle and shine! Just don't make a habit of it.
A soft cloth is best for cleaning and maximizing the sparkle and shine of your jewelry.
